KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (October 5, 2017) – Author, caregiver and radio host Peter Rosenberger presented his “7 Caregiver Landmines” to personal and professional caregivers during a fundraising event at Jackson Terminal in Knoxville sponsored by the Morning Pointe Foundation and BB&T.

Guests and attendees enjoyed Morning Pointe Dining Services “Farm to Table” themed dinner while panelists from the Knox County area engaged in honest discussion about the lives of caregivers.

A 30-year caregiver to his disabled wife, Rosenberger is an advocate for family caregivers, offering practical advice to those navigating the caregiving task. He is the author of two books and is host of a weekly radio show on NewsRadio 1510 WLAC in Nashville — the first-ever broadcast dedicated to America’s 65 million family caregivers, according to a press release.

The fundraising event raised $11,000, which will benefit the Foundation’s caregiver support programs and nursing scholarships. During the event, the Foundation recognized Lacey Barber and Mikayla Pierce, nursing students at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Jacksboro, who were awarded the scholarship earlier this year.

Lori Hoeger, executive director of the Morning Pointe Foundation, says the event was a meeting of minds and hearts for caregivers from all walks of life.

“This event represents a path coming together on which everyone who provides care to a loved one can walk together and know that they truly are not alone,” Hoeger says. “Our goal is to ensure that the road to caregiving is paved with compassion and support from the greater community.”

The Morning Pointe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living. Founded in 2014 by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow, the 501(c)3 non-profit organization connects educational and wellness initiatives, forms community partnerships and supports caregivers in its mission to advance the care of seniors. The scholarship was created to encourage a growing workforce in the senior healthcare field.
